Quick answer, and you may not like it. There is no cat-back exhaust system on Amazon that states Jeep Wrangler 4xe fitment. We checked. What is marketed to 4xe owners as “exhaust” is almost entirely cosmetic tips — $31.79 and $72.75, neither with a single rating. The one Borla system built for the 2.0-litre turbo engine your 4xe uses is listed for the 2-door JL, and the 4xe is only sold as a 4-door, so it does not fit. If you want your 4xe to sound different, tips are the honest option. If you want performance, an exhaust is the wrong place to spend it on this particular Jeep.

Why the 4xe Is a Bad Candidate for an Exhaust Upgrade

This is not us being difficult. There are three specific reasons the usual Wrangler exhaust advice does not transfer.

1. The engine is off for much of your driving

A 4xe runs on electricity for a meaningful share of ordinary journeys — that is the entire point of buying one. An exhaust system only does anything while the petrol engine is running. On a V6 Wrangler a cat-back works every mile you drive; on a 4xe you are paying four hundred dollars for a part that is silent and inert through the commute you bought the car for.

2. It is a 2.0-litre turbo, not the 3.6 V6

Almost every Wrangler JL exhaust on the market was designed around the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6. The 4xe uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four. A turbocharger sits in the exhaust path and already does much of the work a performance exhaust claims to do on a naturally aspirated engine, and the plumbing behind it is not the same shape. A “fits 18-25 JL” listing is usually telling you about the V6 car.

The fitment trap, with a real example. The Borla 140861 is a genuine cat-back for the JL 2.0-litre four-cylinder, which is the right engine. Read the rest of the listing and it says 2 Door. The Wrangler 4xe has only ever been sold as a four-door Unlimited. So the one system on Amazon that names your engine is built for a body style your Jeep does not come in. This is exactly the kind of near-miss that costs people $589.99 and a restocking fee.

3. The hybrid battery changes what is under the floor

The 4xe packages a high-voltage battery under the rear seat and routes shielded cabling along the underside of the vehicle. Exhaust routing on this car is not identical to the petrol JL, and any system not validated on a 4xe is a guess about clearance in an area where getting it wrong is more than a rattle.

Worth taking seriously. Exhaust work on a hybrid means working around shielded high-voltage cabling, usually marked orange, and around a catalytic converter that reaches very high temperatures. We are a research and publishing site, not a workshop. Have exhaust work done or checked by a qualified mechanic familiar with hybrids, never cut or weld near high-voltage cabling, and confirm that anything you fit leaves correct clearance to the battery enclosure and heat shielding. Removing or defeating emissions equipment is illegal for road use in most jurisdictions and can fail your inspection.

How this page was built. We ran live Amazon searches for Wrangler 4xe exhaust systems on 7 October 2026 and read the fitment statement on each candidate’s own product page rather than trusting the search result. Not one cat-back system named the 4xe. We are publishing that result instead of filling the page with V6 systems and hoping you would not check — and we earn nothing when we tell you to buy a $32 tip instead of a $450 system.

What You Can Actually Buy for a 4xe

Dual exhaust muffler tip for a Jeep Wrangler JL 4xe 2021 to 2024

The Honest Option — No Ratings Yet

Dual Exhaust Muffler Tip — Jeep Wrangler JL 4XE 2021–2024

No customer ratings at the time of writing
$31.79 (7 Oct 2026)

Listed fitment: Listed for Jeep Wrangler JL 4XE, 2021–2024. One of very few parts in this category that names the 4xe at all.

A tip is a cosmetic part that slips over the end of your existing tailpipe. It changes how the exit looks and, marginally, how the exhaust note carries. It does not change power, it does not change flow, and it will not make a 2.0-litre turbo sound like a V8 — anyone promising that is selling something. What it does do is cost $31.79 instead of $450, name your actual vehicle in its fitment, and carry no risk of fouling the battery enclosure. If the factory tailpipe looks mean and you want it to look better, this is the proportionate purchase.

Pros

  • Names the JL 4XE 2021–2024 specifically
  • $31.79 — the cheapest meaningful change you can make here
  • Cosmetic only, so no emissions, clearance or warranty complications
  • Fits over the existing pipe, no cutting
Cons

  • No customer ratings at all
  • Purely cosmetic — no performance change whatsoever
  • Clamp-on tips can loosen or discolour over time
  • Will not transform the sound

Exhaust tip muffler for Jeep Wrangler JL 4xe and other JK and JL models

Wider Fitment, Vaguer Listing

Exhaust Tips Muffler — JL 4xe / JL / JK (listed 2000–2025)

No customer ratings at the time of writing
$72.75 (7 Oct 2026)

Listed fitment: Listing names JL 4xe along with JL, JK, Moab and Mojave trims across a very broad 2000–2025 range. Measure your tailpipe outside diameter before ordering.

Also a tip, at more than twice the price of the one above, with a fitment statement that covers a quarter of a century of Jeeps. That breadth is the thing to be careful about: a part that claims to fit everything from a 2000 TJ to a 2025 JL is fitting on clamp adjustment rather than on design, so the outside diameter of your tailpipe matters more than the model name. Measure first. There is nothing wrong with the product category, but we would take the cheaper tip that names only the 4xe.

Pros

  • Names the 4xe among its fitments
  • Heavier construction than the budget tip
  • Covers several Jeep generations if you own more than one
Cons

  • No customer ratings at all
  • $72.75 for a cosmetic part
  • A 2000–2025 fitment range means clamp-fit, not designed fit
  • Measure your tailpipe diameter or it will not sit right

The Systems You Will See — and Why We Are Not Recommending Them

These are real, decent products. They are here so you can see exactly what their listings say, because the search results will put them in front of you.

Borla 140861 cat-back exhaust system for a Jeep Wrangler JL 2.0 litre four cylinder two door

Right Engine, Wrong Body Style

Borla 140861 Cat-Back — JL 2.0L 4-Cyl, 2-Door

No customer ratings at the time of writing
$589.99 (7 Oct 2026)

Listed fitment: Listed for 2018–2023 Jeep Wrangler JL, 2.0L 4-cylinder, AT/MT, 2WD and 4WD, 2 Door. The Wrangler 4xe is sold only as a 4-door.

Borla makes excellent exhausts and this one is built for the 2.0-litre turbo — the same engine family your 4xe uses. It is the closest thing on Amazon to a 4xe exhaust, and it still does not fit, because it is a two-door system and the 4xe has never been offered as a two-door. We are including it because it is the single most likely expensive mistake in this category: the engine matches, the generation matches, the price feels like a real performance part, and the body style quietly does not. Read the whole fitment line, not the first half.

Pros

  • Built for the 2.0-litre turbo engine family
  • Borla is a genuinely respected exhaust manufacturer
  • Stainless construction with a real warranty path
Cons

  • 2-door only — the Wrangler 4xe is 4-door only, so it does not fit
  • No customer ratings on this listing
  • $589.99
  • Even if it fitted, the engine is off for much of a 4xe commute

Rough Country black performance dual outlet exhaust for a 2018 to 2025 Jeep Wrangler JL

Best-Rated JL System — But Check Your Engine

Rough Country Performance Dual Outlet Exhaust — 18–25 JL (96003)

4.0 out of 5 — 21 ratings
$449.95 (7 Oct 2026)

Listed fitment: Listed for 2018–2025 Jeep Wrangler JL. The listing does not state 4xe compatibility, and does not separate the 3.6L V6 from the 2.0L turbo.

This is the only exhaust in the category with a meaningful rating pool — 4.0 from 21 buyers — and at $449.95 it is sensibly priced for a dual-outlet system. The problem is what the listing does not say. A bare “18-25 JL” fitment almost always means the 3.6-litre V6, and it says nothing about the 4xe or about clearance around a high-voltage battery. Before buying this for a 4xe, contact Rough Country with your VIN and get written confirmation. Without that, you are buying a V6 part and hoping.

Pros

  • 4.0 from 21 ratings — the only real evidence in this category
  • $449.95 is fair for a dual-outlet system
  • Established brand with a support line you can actually call
Cons

  • Does not state 4xe fitment or separate the 2.0L turbo from the V6
  • No statement about clearance to the hybrid battery or its cabling
  • Still only works when the petrol engine is running
  • 4.0 is a modest rating for a $450 part

Where That Money Goes Further on a 4xe

If the budget was earmarked for an exhaust, these do more for this specific vehicle:

  • Tyres. The only part touching the road, and the one that changes how the Jeep drives every single mile — electric or petrol. Our Wrangler tyre guide covers what fits.
  • Suspension, if you want stance and capability. A 4xe needs 4xe-rated springs because of the battery weight at the rear — see our Wrangler 4xe lift kit guide.
  • A Level 2 home charger. Unglamorous, but it is the upgrade that changes how much of your driving happens on electricity, which is the thing that makes a 4xe worth owning.
  • Nothing at all. A perfectly respectable answer. The factory exhaust on a 4xe is quiet because the car is designed to be quiet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cat-back exhaust for the Jeep Wrangler 4xe?

Not one that states 4xe fitment on Amazon, as of 7 October 2026. We searched the category and read the fitment on each candidate’s own product page. The systems that appear are built for the 3.6-litre V6 JL, and the one Borla system made for the 2.0-litre turbo engine is listed for the 2-door JL — a body style the 4xe has never been sold in. What is marketed to 4xe owners is cosmetic exhaust tips.

Will a normal Wrangler JL exhaust fit a 4xe?

Do not assume so. The 4xe uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four rather than the 3.6-litre V6 most JL systems were designed around, and it packages a high-voltage battery under the rear seat with shielded cabling running along the underside. That changes both the plumbing and the clearance requirements. If a listing says “fits 18-25 JL” without separating the engines or mentioning the 4xe, contact the manufacturer with your VIN and get written confirmation before ordering.

Will an exhaust make my 4xe faster?

Very little, and less than on a petrol Wrangler. The 4xe is turbocharged, and a turbo already sits in the exhaust path doing much of what a performance exhaust claims to do on a naturally aspirated engine. More importantly, the exhaust only does anything while the petrol engine is running, and a 4xe spends a meaningful share of ordinary driving on electricity alone. You are buying a part that is inert for much of your mileage.

Do exhaust tips change the sound?

Marginally. A tip slips over the existing tailpipe and alters how the note exits and carries — it does not change flow, back pressure or power. A larger or dual tip can make the note slightly deeper at the exit, and it changes the look, which is usually the real reason people buy them. Anything promising a dramatic sound change from a clamp-on tip is overselling.

Will an aftermarket exhaust affect my 4xe warranty?

It can affect how a related claim is handled, and on a 4xe the powertrain and high-voltage battery coverage is the most valuable part of the warranty. Exhaust work also sits close to the battery enclosure and its shielded cabling. Ask your dealer before the work rather than after a problem, and bear in mind that removing or defeating emissions equipment is illegal for road use in most jurisdictions regardless of what the warranty says.

Our Verdict

If you want the look: the Dual Exhaust Muffler Tip at $31.79. It names the JL 4XE specifically, it costs almost nothing, and it carries no clearance, emissions or warranty risk. It has no ratings, but it is a $32 cosmetic part — the downside is $32.

If you are set on a full system: the Rough Country 96003 at $449.95 is the only one with a real rating pool, but do not order it until Rough Country confirms in writing that it fits a 4xe with your VIN. Without that confirmation we would not buy it.

What we would not do: buy the Borla 140861. It is the right engine and a genuinely good exhaust, and it is a 2-door system for a Jeep that is only made as a 4-door. That is $589.99 and a return shipment.

What we would actually do: skip the exhaust entirely and put the money into tyres or suspension. On a Jeep that runs silently for much of its life, an exhaust is the least effective place to spend four hundred dollars — and we would rather tell you that than sell you one.
