“Floor mats for a Jeep Wrangler” is four different products. A JL and a JK have different footwells, two-door and four-door bodies need different rear pieces, and the 4xe has a cargo floor of its own. On top of that, the JL’s optional Alpine subwoofer sits in the cargo area and changes which liner fits — which is why one of the best-selling sets on Amazon has the words “Without Subwoofer” in its title. This guide is organised by generation, because that is the only order that makes the decision simple.
Quick Picks
| JL 4-door | JL Gas 2018–2026 mats — $119.99 · 4.6 from 1,124 ratings, cut for the JL footwell |
| JK 4-door | 7-piece JK set — $69.99 · the most coverage per dollar on the older body |
| Best premium | 3W mats + cargo liner — $189.99 · 2,917 ratings, the deepest record on any Wrangler set |
How We Checked These
- Fitment read from each listing’s own text, including the exclusions — “Not JL/2-Door”, “No for JK/4XE”, “Without Subwoofer”. On the Wrangler those exclusions are the useful part.
- Prices and ratings captured on 1 October 2026 and quoted exactly as displayed. Where Amazon pools a rating count across a seller’s fitment family, we say so.
- Market context measured per generation, not guessed: 60 JL listings, 60 JK listings and 48 two-door listings sampled, with the quartiles published further down this page.
- Every set here is a moulded tray with raised edges. Flat mats were excluded regardless of price, because a flat mat in a Wrangler is a puddle with a pattern on it.
- No invented numbers. Where a listing showed no price or no ratings, we print that instead of filling the gap.
Which Floor Mats Fit Your Jeep Wrangler?
Four questions, in this order: which generation (JL 2018–2026, JK 2007–2018, TJ 1997–2006, YJ 1987–1995), two doors or four, petrol or 4xe, and — on a JL — whether you have the cargo-area subwoofer. Those four answers reduce sixty listings to about three, and every genuine fitment claim on Amazon is written in those terms.
| Your Wrangler | What to search for | What will not fit |
|---|---|---|
| JL / JLU, 2018–2026, petrol | “JL Gas 4-Door” or “JL Unlimited” | JK sets, 4xe cargo liners |
| JL 4xe, 2021–2026 | “4xe” named explicitly | Petrol JL cargo liners (cabin mats are fine) |
| JL 2-door, 2018–2026 | “JL 2 Door” | Four-door rear pieces |
| JK / JKU, 2007–2018 | “JK 2007-2018”, with door count | Anything listed for the JL |
| TJ 1997–2006, YJ 1987–1995 | Generation-specific or trimmable | Modern moulded JL/JK trays |
| JL with Alpine subwoofer | A liner that does not say “Without Subwoofer” | “Without Subwoofer” cargo liners |
Both the JK and the JL were sold as 2018 model years, which is the single most common mix-up. The quickest way to tell them apart is the windscreen: the JL folds flat on four visible bolts and the JK does not, and the JL’s door handles sit in a recessed pocket. Our Jeep fitment guide has the full generation table if you are unsure.
Best Floor Mats for the Jeep Wrangler JL (2018–2026)
Across 60 JL listings the median price was $99.99, with the lower quarter at $79.89 and the upper at $119.99. The best-evidenced cabin set is $119.99 with 1,124 ratings; the deepest-reviewed product of any kind on this body is the $189.99 3W bundle at 2,917 ratings; and $64.99 buys a perfectly good budget tray.
Best for the JL 4-Door
JL Gas 2018–2026 Unlimited 4-Door Floor Mats
Listed fitment: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited, 4-door, petrol
The set with the best evidence-to-fitment ratio on the JL. It names the petrol JL Unlimited specifically rather than claiming the whole Wrangler range, and 1,124 ratings is enough to know the mould is right rather than nearly right. It sits at the upper quartile of the JL market, which is the correct place for a cabin set that actually reaches the sill and clears the dead pedal.
- 1,124 ratings on a single, specific fitment
- Reaches the sill strip, which cheaper trays miss
- TPE: stays flexible in winter, no rubber smell
- Deep enough wall to matter with the doors off
- Cabin only — no cargo liner
- Petrol JL only; 4xe owners should buy a 4xe set
- Upper-quartile price for cabin-only coverage
Best Premium
3W Floor Mats + Cargo Liner — JL 2018–2026 (Without Subwoofer)
Listed fitment: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL — cars without the cargo-area subwoofer
The deepest review record of any Wrangler floor mat product, and the most complete coverage: cabin mats plus a moulded cargo liner rather than a flat trunk mat. Read the fitment line twice, though. “Without Subwoofer” is not marketing — the optional Alpine subwoofer occupies part of the JL cargo floor, and this liner is cut for the flat floor you get without it. If you have the sub, this set’s cabin mats are still right and its cargo piece is not.
- 2,917 pooled ratings — the most-bought Wrangler set here
- Proper moulded cargo liner, not a flat mat
- 3W splits its fitments precisely rather than claiming everything
- Textures match across cabin and boot
- Does not fit JLs with the cargo subwoofer
- $189.99 — at the top of the JL market
- Pooled ratings cover other Jeep fitments too
Best Value with Cargo
Floor Mats + Cargo Liner — JL Unlimited 4-Door
Listed fitment: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited, 4-door — cabin mats and cargo liner
Cabin and boot covered for exactly the JL market median, which makes it the best coverage-per-dollar set on this body. It is $90 cheaper than the 3W bundle and carries 564 ratings of its own rather than a pooled family total. The cargo piece is a tray rather than a deep-walled liner, so it contains spills and dirt but will not hold a sloshing cooler the way the premium liner does.
- Cabin and cargo at the market median
- 564 ratings on this specific fitment
- $90 less than the premium bundle
- TPE throughout, cleans with a hose
- Cargo piece is shallower than the 3W liner
- No seat-back mats
- Check your subwoofer before trusting any JL cargo piece
Best Budget JL
Budget Floor Mats — JL Unlimited 4-Door (Not JK / 4xe)
Listed fitment: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4-door — explicitly not the JK and not the 4xe
$35 below the JL median with 1,936 ratings behind it, and a fitment line that rules out both of the bodies people confuse this with. That double exclusion is the reason to trust it at the price. The trade is wall height: the edges are shallower than the dearer trays, which you will notice the first time you climb in with properly wet boots rather than merely damp ones.
- Well below the market median
- 1,936 ratings — unusual at this price
- Rules out JK and 4xe explicitly
- Light, easy to pull out and hose
- Shallower walls than the $119.99 set
- Cabin only
- 4.5 average rather than 4.6–4.7
Best Known Brand
Michelin Vehicle Mats — JL 4-Door Gas / MHEV
Listed fitment: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL, 4-door, petrol or mild hybrid
The only mat on this page from a brand most people have already heard of, and the fitment line is the most precise here — it separates petrol from mild hybrid, which almost no seller bothers to do. With 57 ratings there is not yet enough feedback to say it beats the $119.99 set on fit, so buy it because you want a brand behind the purchase, not because the evidence is stronger.
- Recognised brand with a warranty path
- Most precise drivetrain fitment on this page
- Finish and edge quality are a step up
- Priced close to the unbranded premium set
- Only 57 ratings so far
- No cargo liner at $125.95
- Above the JL median without more coverage
Best Floor Mats for the Jeep Wrangler JK (2007–2018)
The JK market is cheaper than the JL’s — median $89.99 across 60 listings, lower quarter $64.99 — because the body has been out of production since 2018 and the moulds are long paid for. The best value is a seven-piece set at $69.99; the most-reviewed option is a two-door-specific bundle with 3,927 ratings.
Best for the JK 4-Door
7-Piece Floor Mat Set — JK Unlimited 4-Door 2007–2018
Listed fitment: 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, 4-door — 7 pieces
Seven pieces for $69.99, which is $20 below the JK median and covers more than most sets twice the price. On a JK that is the right way to spend: the body is old enough that you are protecting carpet you want to keep presentable for resale rather than preserving a showroom interior, and more coverage beats a thicker tray. 795 ratings is a solid base for a body this age.
- Seven pieces — the widest coverage in the JK market
- $20 below the JK median
- 795 ratings
- Easy to lift out for the annual hose-down
- Four-door only
- Thinner material than the premium JL trays
- No seat-back mats
Most Reviewed Wrangler Set
Cartist Floor Mats + Cargo Liner — JK 2-Door 2007–2018
Listed fitment: 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK, 2-door — cabin mats and cargo liner
Nearly four thousand ratings, which is the largest review base of any Wrangler floor mat set on Amazon and the strongest single piece of evidence on this page. It is a two-door JK product, so it is the wrong set for most readers — but if you have a two-door JK, this is as close to a safe purchase as this category offers. Cartist also sells a front-row-only version at $60.49 if you only want the footwells.
- 3,927 ratings — the deepest base in the whole category
- Cabin plus a cargo liner
- Cartist has a front-row-only variant at $60.49
- Consistent recent reviews, not a launch spike
- Two-door JK only
- Above the JK median
- Pooled count spans Cartist’s JK variants
Best Floor Mats for a 2-Door Wrangler
Two-door sets are a smaller market — 48 listings, median $89.99 — and the rear piece is what makes them specific. A four-door rear mat will not sit right behind a two-door’s bench. For a JL 2-door the best option is a $119.99 mats-and-cargo bundle; for a JK 2-door, the Cartist set above.
Best for the JL 2-Door
Floor Mats + Cargo Liner — JL 2-Door 2018–2026
Listed fitment: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL, 2-door — cabin mats and cargo liner
The two-door JL is the hardest Wrangler to buy for, because most sellers mould the four-door and let the listing imply the rest. This one names the two-door body and includes the cargo piece, which on a short-wheelbase Wrangler is proportionally more of the interior than it is on a JLU. 326 ratings is modest in absolute terms and good for a two-door-specific product.
- Genuinely cut for the 2-door body
- Cargo liner included
- 326 ratings on a narrow fitment
- Covers 2018 through 2026
- Above the two-door median of $89.99
- Smaller review base than four-door sets
- Check the subwoofer before trusting the cargo piece
Every Set Compared
Read the fitment column before the price column. Eight sets here span $64.99 to $189.99, but they are not eight versions of the same thing — they fit four different bodies, and only three include a cargo piece.

Prices and ratings as displayed on Amazon on 1 October 2026. Market medians that day: JL 4-door $99.99 (60 listings), JK $89.99 (60), two-door $89.99 (48).
The Two Traps Specific to the Wrangler
First, the JL’s optional cargo-area subwoofer: liners are sold “Without Subwoofer” and will not sit flat if you have one. Second, the 4xe: its cabin mats are identical to a petrol JL’s, but its cargo floor is not, so a petrol cargo liner sits proud at the back.
Open the boot and look at the driver’s side rear corner behind the trim. If there is a subwoofer enclosure there, every cargo liner whose title says “Without Subwoofer” is the wrong shape for you — including the best-reviewed set on this page. Cabin mats are unaffected. This one phrase causes more Wrangler returns than fitment years do.
A petrol JL set’s cabin mats fit a 4xe perfectly — same footwells. The cargo liner does not, because the 4xe’s battery pack changes the load floor behind the rear seat. If you have a 4xe and want the boot covered, buy a liner that names the 4xe; our Wrangler 4xe floor mat guide lists the two sets that do.
Why a Wrangler Needs Different Mats From Any Other Jeep
Because the floor is designed to get wet. The Wrangler has drain plugs in the footwells and a roof and doors that come off, so the mat’s job is to channel water to the plugs and survive being hosed — not to seal the carpet the way it must in a Grand Cherokee. That changes which features are worth paying for.
In practice it means three things. Drainage beats containment: a tray that moves water to the outer edge is better than a sealed bath that holds it. Backing matters more than usual, because many Wranglers have a bare or rubberised floor where nib-backed mats designed for carpet pile simply skate. And the mats should come out easily, because in a Wrangler they actually will — twice a year at least, which is not true of any other Jeep.
It also means carpet mats are the wrong purchase on this vehicle in almost every climate. Our materials explainer covers the TPE-versus-rubber-versus-carpet decision, and the all-weather mat guide goes deeper into the doors-off case.
What You Should Expect to Pay
For a JL, $80 to $120 for cabin mats and around $100 for cabin plus cargo — the median is $99.99. For a JK, $65 to $90. For a two-door, around $90. Below $50 you are buying flat mats or front-row-only sets; above $130 you are buying a cargo liner and a brand, not better footwell mats.
| Body | Listings sampled | Cheapest | Lower quarter | Median | Upper quarter | Dearest |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JL 4-door | 60 | $49.99 | $79.89 | $99.99 | $119.99 | $189.99 |
| JK (2007–2018) | 60 | $34.49 | $64.99 | $89.99 | $125.89 | $199.99 |
| 2-door (JL and JK) | 48 | $34.49 | $60.49 | $89.99 | $119.99 | $199.99 |
The JL commands about $10 more at the median than the JK, which is what you would expect from a body still in production with more sellers chasing it. Our price tier breakdown shows where the value curve flattens across the whole Jeep range.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will JK floor mats fit a JL Wrangler?
No. The footwell shape, sill height and retention locations all changed between the JK and the JL, and a JK driver’s mat sits wrong at the dead pedal. Both generations were sold as 2018 model years, so buy by generation code rather than by year — on a JL the windscreen folds flat on four visible bolts and the door handles sit in a recessed pocket.
Q: What does “Without Subwoofer” mean on a Wrangler cargo liner?
The JL offers an optional subwoofer enclosure in the cargo area, which takes up part of the load floor. A liner labelled “Without Subwoofer” is cut for the flat floor you get on cars without that option. Open the boot and look at the driver’s side rear corner — if there is an enclosure there, you need a liner that accommodates it. Cabin mats are unaffected either way.
Q: Do petrol JL mats fit a Wrangler 4xe?
The cabin mats do — the footwells are identical, so a three-piece petrol JL set fits a 4xe and the other way round. The cargo liner does not, because the 4xe’s load floor behind the rear seat is arranged differently around the battery pack. That is what “Not fits JL/Gas” means on 4xe-specific listings.
Q: How much should Jeep Wrangler floor mats cost?
Across 60 JL listings on 1 October 2026 the median was $99.99, with the lower quarter at $79.89 and the upper at $119.99. The JK market is cheaper, at a $89.99 median and $64.99 lower quarter. Below about $50 you are generally buying flat mats or front-row-only sets rather than a full moulded tray.
Q: Can I hose out my Wrangler with the mats in?
Take them out first — that is the whole advantage of a tray. The Wrangler has footwell drain plugs so water has somewhere to go, but grit trapped under a mat is abrasive and will wear the carpet the mat was bought to protect. Pull them, hose them, let both the mats and the carpet dry, then refit.
Q: Are carpet mats ever right for a Wrangler?
Only for a garage-kept Wrangler in a dry climate that never has its top off. The moment the roof or doors come off, the floor is a surface that gets rained on by design, and carpet holds that water against your floor carpet rather than letting it drain. In a Wrangler, a moulded TPE or rubber tray is the default and carpet is the exception.
Q: Do I need mats with retention clips on a Wrangler?
On the driver’s side, yes — a mat that can slide towards the pedals is the one safety issue in this category. Most JK and JL footwells have factory retention posts, so lift the original mat and look. If your Wrangler has a bare or rubberised floor rather than carpet, nib-backed mats will skate regardless, and engaging the factory anchors matters even more.
Q: What about TJ and YJ Wranglers?
Very few sellers mould for the TJ (1997–2006) or YJ (1987–1995) any more, so the practical answer is a trimmable universal tray cut to shape, or a generation-specific set if you can find one. Measure your driver’s footwell at its widest point and from the sill to the firewall, and trim to end a quarter to half an inch short of the firewall rather than flush with it.
The Verdict
JL 4-door, petrol: the $119.99 JL Gas Unlimited set if you want the best-evidenced cabin mats, or the $99.99 mats-and-cargo-liner set for the better coverage-per-dollar — that is the one most JL owners should buy. Tight budget: the $64.99 set with 1,936 ratings. Everything covered, no cargo subwoofer: the 3W bundle at $189.99. JK 4-door: the $69.99 seven-piece set. JK 2-door: the Cartist set and its 3,927 ratings. JL 2-door: the $119.99 two-door bundle. Check the subwoofer before you buy any JL cargo piece, and do the pedal check before you drive.
